Straight talk

Is Music Wide Selfie for you?

Here’s who it’s built for, and who should probably skip it.

It’s for you if

  • You film yourself a lot and want more of you and the place you’re in, in the frame.
  • You want your music to keep playing while you record, with your voice in the video.
  • You want the scene and your reaction in one video.
  • You film alone and want the camera to help: countdowns, framing help, a teleprompter, a check that the take saved with sound.
  • You lost access to an app you used to film with, and want a camera that just saves to your own Photos.

It’s probably not for you if

  • You only take quick photos. The camera built into your iPhone is excellent for that.
  • You don’t have an iPhone. It’s iPhone only.
  • You need it today. It isn’t released yet.
  • You want a cheap app. The planned plans start at US$100 a month, because it’s built as a serious tool, not a filter app.

Honest limits

  • Features depend on your iPhone. The wider front view and Dual Camera only appear on phones that can really do them.
  • Whether music ends up inside the saved video depends on your iPhone, iOS version and how you listen, and some streaming music may be restricted. You need the rights to any music you publish.
  • Some features have passed early testing, many are still being tested, and some are only planned. Each feature page says which.
