Questions, answered.

What is Music Wide Selfie?

An iPhone camera app in development for people who film themselves. It’s built around three things: the widest front view your iPhone can give, music that keeps playing while you record, and front and rear cameras together on supported iPhones.

When is it coming out?

There’s no release date yet. It’s being tested on real iPhones. Join the waitlist on the home page for one email when it’s ready.

How much will it cost?

Three planned monthly plans: Average US$100, Premium US$500 and Crown US$1,000. Each includes everything in the plan before it. Prices are planned and may change before launch.

Is there a free version?

No free plan is planned. Safety, recovery and privacy features are included in every plan.

Does it work on Android?

No. It’s an iPhone app.

Will my music really keep playing?

That’s what it’s designed to do, and voice plus music has passed early testing. Behaviour can vary by iPhone, iOS version and how you listen, and some streaming music may be restricted. Use headphones to avoid echo, and only publish music you have the rights to.

Can it do a 0.5 selfie?

It’s designed to give you the widest front view your iPhone really offers. It never claims a zoom number your phone can’t deliver, so how wide you get depends on your model.

Can I record the front and back cameras at the same time?

Yes, with Dual Camera, on iPhones whose hardware supports recording two cameras at once. Basic Dual Camera has passed early testing.

Can I record my screen with my face?

Yes, Screen + Face records your screen and your face in a small movable window in one video. It has passed early testing in the app; recording across other apps depends on what Apple allows.

Can I film myself without anyone holding the phone?

Yes, that’s a big part of the app: countdowns, Hand Signal, and Solo Director, which waits until you’re framed before taking the shot.

What is Shave View?

A planned Crown feature: your iPhone becomes a camera you can move anywhere, and a laptop or tablet shows the live view, so you can see the back of your head or anywhere you can’t see. It isn’t built yet.

Does the app track me?

It’s designed without tracking, analytics or third-party advertising SDKs, and nothing turns on by itself. The full privacy policy will be published before release.

Who makes it?

Con, a solo founder in Sydney, Australia. Read the founder story on this site.

Why is it called Music Wide Selfie?

Because that was the original problem: a wide selfie, with your music still playing. The name may change before release.

Where can I give feedback?

On the help site’s feedback page: https://help.musicwideselfie.com/feedback.html. The form switches on soon.
